The total number of TAs working in English schools is down for the first time ever – but encouraging signs from the MITA project show how a strategic focus on TAs can unlock their potential.

Anita Abdous - CPD Manager, Knowsley First Teaching School Alliance
Location: North-west England
I am a recently retired Head Teacher, now working for the Knowsley Teaching School Alliance as the CPD Manager. I support the development and improvement of teaching and learning by facilitating and organising training within the Knowsley region.
My experience as a Head Teacher has always been in schools in deprived areas, where I have valued the contribution TAs have made to the learning experiences of my pupils.
In my 16 years as a Head Teacher across two schools, I was always passionate about developing teaching assistants to be able to do the best job they could to improve the life chances of our children. Quality CPD played a crucial part in this.
I am available to deliver the Maximising the Practice of TAs training across North-west England.
