The total number of TAs working in English schools is down for the first time ever – but encouraging signs from the MITA project show how a strategic focus on TAs can unlock their potential.

Ben Levy - Senior Educational Psychologist, Norwood
I am a senior Educational Psychologist at Norwood, a large Jewish charity. My role is to help schools and parents identify and address concerns around pupils’ academic progress. I am a qualified primary school teacher and before this I worked as an LSA, so I have a thorough understanding of the school system and child development.
My passion and specialism is in developing thinking skills and promoting learner independence. I have trained in the Feuerstein method of cognitive enrichment, and received certification (including MPTA and OLEVI) to support staff in improving their pedagogical practice.
I am highly experienced at delivering a range of in-service training across the breadth of London schools, covering all aspects of teaching, learning and development. Currently, I have designed and have begun delivering a unique two year TA support programme (involving two primary schools), comprehensively addressing all aspects of their TA deployment, preparedness and practice.
I am available to deliver the Maximising the Practice of TAs training in London, especially North and North-west London.
