The total number of TAs working in English schools is down for the first time ever – but encouraging signs from the MITA project show how a strategic focus on TAs can unlock their potential.

Claire May - Early Years Leader & Outreach Support Lead, Chiltern Wood Special School
Location: Home Counties and inner London
I currently work as Early Years department leader at a special needs school in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Our school provides outreach support for local mainstream schools, specialising is SEND provision and practice as part of the Bucks Side-By-Side Project. I lead this project and regularly deliver whole-school training, work directly with SENCOs and conduct SEND reviews.
I have delivered the MPTA course to schools participating in the Side-By-Side project, and I believe it to be a very powerful and valuable tool in the professional development of teaching assistants and teachers alike.
I am available to deliver the Maximising the Practice of TAs training across the Home Counties and inner London.
