MITA TA Series
Online Training

MITA research

Our MITA TA Series offers structured online training to develop TAs’ skills for building pupil independence. It is an evidence-based programme for TAs in all settings, available to schools, local authorities and trusts on a subscription basis.

This online course can be delivered in 30-45 minute blocks, as part of INSET or group training sessions, facilitated by a SENCO or senior leader. The accessible videos contain ‘pause points’ for discussion, and there are follow-on activities, so TAs can apply and practise new skills. The videos can be used as refresher training and as part of induction for new starters.

With access to the videos and supporting materials, TAs can use them whenever they like, as many times as they like.

The core content of the MITA TA Series covers:

  • Research and evidence behind the ta role
  • What makes a successful learning experience?
  • Enabling learners to make mistakes
  • Using process success criteria (mini-goals)
  • Effective scaffolding and metacognition
  • Using the scaffolding framework
  • Assessment for learning
  • Planning for changes to practice
