We have experience delivering INSET Training for families of schools to promote a common standard of knowledge and training for Teachers and TAs across a Trust or Federation.

For schools who wish to stimulate this through a Teaching Assistant targeted INSET Day, we recommend a three-stage process, that allows us to work with larger numbers and to support the training's application into practice at scale:

Leaders (prior to the training)

  • 0.5 Day Leadership Training in Core MITA principles for classroom practice
  • Overview of TA Core content, scaffolding framework and gap tasks
  • Facilitator training in Teacher twilight training, pre-access to lesson plans and recording

TAs (INSET training)

  • Full MITA TA training on developing independence (in person / online)
  • Exploration of learning theory, scaffolding, metacognition, assessment for learning, and use of the Scaffolding Framework, linked to follow-on tasks.

Teachers (after the training)

  • Teacher specific webinars on Classroom deployment, preparation and interaction.
  • Lesson-plans and activities to define good practice at a classroom, department/phase and whole-school level.

This model is centred around our MITA TA Training for all TAs but provides a useful and flexible framework to equip Leaders in advance with an

understanding of the research, principles, and an action-plan for its use, while also supporting teachers in defining their roles and contribution to TA's impact, with models of how this can be implemented into practice.

Focused content is normally tailored in advance to the needs of the Trust or Federation, and can link to a wider review of how TAs are currently utilised. We normally provide delivery in person for the INSET day itself, with virtual options for Leadership training and webinars for teachers that can be accessed across the term or academic year, throughout the Trust.

Costings are tailored to the number of schools and participants; to receive a quote or find out more please contact us at enquiries@maximisingtas.co.uk and we can arrange a time to discuss your context.:
